Navigators
“Our rehearsal room lies right beside the harbour in Frederikstad. This passes perfectly in relation to what we do in The Navigators”, declares the singer and songwriter of the band, Trond Andreassen. “Our lyrics deal with hope and dreams, out of date and redundant sailors, the whole thing has a maritime flavour”.
“It started really as a demo for my own sake”, reveals Andreassen, " I had no plans for this to become a band as such". After three albums with Richochets, he felt that the band had become trapped in its own genre and that the band members had become ever so slightly tired of each other.
“Our ambitions with Navigators is to make timeless music, nothing less. The base is 60’s pop, wonky, psychedlic country and 50’s rock. Singers such as Del Shannon, Frankie Valli and Lee Hazlewood. Mersey Beat, The Kinks. We mix the English and American”.
Navigators’ debut album is essentially recorded with the help of Sven Olsen, who was also similarly engaged in Richochets last two albums. Mike Hartung has taken care of the mixing.
First single “Wall of Stone” is currently A-listed on NRK P3.
“One of the last decades best rock voices is finally back. Trond Andreassen is well known from the Richochets period. (”Wall of Stones")…has a dramatic piano theme with echos from E Streets Band’s Roy Bittan as a red thread through this magnificent song which slowly builds itself up to impressive heights – just as Andreassen’s voice does. Welcome back." (VG, Stein Østbø about “Wall of Sound”)
