About

Presented by by:Larm

In October 2022, the BBC will become the first public service broadcaster in the world to celebrate its 100th anniversary. The British institution has a history as a leading public service broadcaster, a big part of which is owed to its extensive music coverage.

However, the BBC hasn’t reached its centenary by looking backwards – its thorough, adventurous and persistent approach to covering the newest movements in the music world has helped the channel maintain its credibility, and a number of BBC DJs have become stars in their own right.

James Stirling is the Executive Editor of BBC 100 and oversees the channel’s official anniversary celebration. He has first-hand knowledge of the channel’s music coverage as the former Head of Music and Head of BBC Radio 6 Music. In this interview, James will reflect on the past 100 years, how the channel’s approach to music has evolved over the years and, of course, share stories from along the way.
