The London-based Mancunian aya released her debut album im hole on Hyperdub (Burial, Loraine James, Dean Blunt) in October 2021 to great fanfare. It was pronounced Best New Music by Pitchfork, was named The Quietus’ Album of the Week – who compared it to Laurie Anderson’s groundbreaking debut Big Science (1982)– while Loud And Quiet described it as “a sonically rich album that confirms aya’s place at the forefront of cutting edge electronic music”. Her hometown’s premier record store, Boomkat, summed up her sound quite fittingly with the tag “garage, grime, jungle, rap and mutant IDM on a killer debut album of head-spinning, freehand tekkers”.
However, it didn’t start there. For the past three years, aya’s monthly residency at the acclaimed radio station NTS has showcased her sonic horizon to a growing number of confounded but enthralled fans. Her audience is bound to keep growing, and at by:Larm 2022, the most adventurous audience members should make sure to bookmark aya’s performance.

Loud And Quiet, på sin side, beskrev plata som “a sonically rich album that confirms aya’s place at the forefront of cutting edge electronic music.” Boomkat, den renommerte platesjappa i hjembyen, beskrev lydbildet temmelig godt da de skrev “garage, grime, jungle, rap and mutant IDM on a killer debut album of head-spinning, freehand tekkers”.
