About

Presented by TONO

TONO is a collective management organization which collects and facilitates licensing of the economic copyrights of composers, lyricists and music publishers. TONO has 38,000 members and represents a world repertoire of music.

Women make up only 20 percent of TONO's members. In 2020, only 12 percent of the songwriters and 0.7 percent of the producers in the 50 most played songs on Spotify were women.

Why are there not more female music creators? Which obstacles stand in the way of increasing the proportion of women, what is being done and what can be done through new measures? What does this inequality mean for the music listeners when there are so few female songwriters behind the music we listen to?

Panelists:
Amanda Delara (artist and songwriter)
Sofie Søndervik Sæther (program director, JM Norway)
Sira Berry (Senior Editor, Spotify)
Odd Harald Jensen (A&R, Arctic Rights Management)

Moderated by Siri Haugan Holden (Balansekunst)
