About

Presented by International Artist Organisation (IAO)

How do artists get paid from streaming platforms, live-streamed concerts, social media, and other areas?

Ever since the founding of Spotify in 2006, the discussion on artists’ revenue from streaming services has been widely discussed. IAO was established in 2014 to work for fair and balanced rights for artists and a fair share of all value stemming from the artists’ works. To shed light on how artists are remunerated in the streaming economy, IAO conducted a survey among artists in Europe.

The survey reveals a much more complex picture than earlier described. The presentation will be followed by a discussion regarding the true value of the streaming economy, and how we can create a fair music economy for all.

Panelists:
Daniel Johansson (Inland Norway University of Applied Science)
Jenny Hermansson (Managing Director, Spotify)
Anneli Axelsson (artist and Board Member, IAO and Musikerförbundet)
Sara Indrio (artist and borad member of IAO)
Kristine Bjørnstad (Managing Director, 777 Music)

Moderated by Nacho Garcia Vega (artist, Director of the board of IAO)
