Understanding what is behind the current entertainment industry shut-down and what may lie ahead.
With the WGA (Writers Guild) and SAG/AFTRA (Actors Guild) currently both on strike, the entertainment industry in the US has come to a screeching halt. Almost all scripted U.S. film and television productions are currently on hold for the foreseeable future. Many of the different ancillary businesses are struggling to survive and seeking new approaches to conduct business during this work stoppage. This panel will discuss the current state of the negotiations between the WGA, SAG/AFTRA and the AMPTP (who represent the interests of the studios and streamers), discuss some of the key issues that the guilds and studios are negotiating over, and outline some of the potential negotiated settlements. We will also discuss some of the do’s and don’ts for conducting business during this unique and challenging time.
